Can you choose to see things differently?

Let’s face it – life doesn’t always go to plan, does it?!

I’m sitting here this morning as I write this in the beautiful Roslin Hotel. I’m here because I’m covering for one of my yoga teacher buddies this week…except no-one has turned up!!!

I was up and out of bed at 6am this morning for the 7am class and then the 9.30am class. I guess the residents here at the hotel must all have had a heavy weekend!

Here’s this week’s Monday Mantra:

I could have been frustrated that I woke up so early for nothing. That I left a family gathering early last night to prepare for the classes this morning. That I’ve lost precious time and space out of my day.

OR I could enjoy the welcome change to my surroundings. Drink in the beautiful views from my table in the breakfast room, looking out over the Estuary, as I enjoy my complimentary coffee and check my emails in peace and quiet. I could make use of the extra free time, having gotten up so early, feeling calm, clear, in control and grateful for a lovely start to the week.

I decided to choose the second version.

It’s not always easy to choose the positive. Sometimes, the negative story will win, and that’s ok. But over time, the more you remind yourself that you have the ability to choose what story you listen to, how you decide to see things, the more you will choose to see things differently.
