Keep taking small steps forward...
September, 2019
September has arrived…have you got that back-to-school feeling yet?!
After the summer excitement, September is a great time to re-commit to healthy habits or to start brand new ones. According to Ayurveda, the energy in Autumn is particularly supportive towards making positive changes. Which is great news for us!
This month, we’ll be taking advantage of this forward-moving energy with our class theme of ‘practice on’.
If your yoga practice got a little lost over the summer – the good news is that you can just as easily find it again.
I’ve started plenty of new habits over the years. For me, the key to success is the following #MondayMantra:
Often when we’re trying to start a new habit, we go all guns blazing and try to take on too many different changes at once. For some, that works. But for many of us, it becomes overwhelming and when life gets in the way, we drop the ball, get discouraged and end up giving in. Which leads to a lack of trust in our ability to achieve a goal and can stop us from even trying again in the future. Can you relate to that?
What has been working for me lately is to just focus on one goal and break it down into small steps.
This Autumn, my main focus is on improving my overall health and wellbeing. There’s several things I’m doing in that capacity, of course but I’m ultimately focused on one thing.
One at a time, I’m making changes to various habits and taking it sloooooowly.
It seems to be working so far, and I’m finding that I’m able to better navigate through the bumps in the road.
